97 y8 block on a 99 y8 vtec head?

Default 97 y8 block on a 99 y8 vtec head?

Okay i know this has been talked about in the past, But i have a 97 block and im looking to put a y8 vtec head on it. What do i need to make this happen? Thanks

wouldn't it be a direct swap? maybe some wiring for vtec?

I guess the 97 didn't have vtec? then you'll just have to do some wiring from the ecu up to the head. and I'm sure other little stuff. just look up mini-me or something.

96-00 has vtec...and also doesnt have vtec...depends on the model you bought. duh.
if you originally had the harness of a y8...it should be plug and play or well bolt on and drive.

So i need a y8 harness for the head.. Would i need a different ECU? I still have my stock ECU from a 97 dx hatchback.

You will need a P2P ECU to just plug and play. You will also need to wire up the V-Tec solenoid. It would be WAY harder to replace the harness because it goes through the firewall. The head will bolt up just fine.

yes, assuming your 5 spd and so is the ecu.
