'97 Honda Civic D16 motor conversion
Hi everyone,
I've had a 1.6i (SOHC) engine and killed it... replaced it with another 1.6i. My mechanic advised me to put bigger motor that will accommodate my style of driving. I wear a size 10 shoe.
1. Please advise on a bigger motor that would suite my hatch back and tolerate my style
2. Will my current management, gearbox work and cv's on the same motor?
3. What future upgrades for that motor.
4. Should I consider buying a turbo what is the most suitable?
Thanks.

Re: '97 Honda Civic D16 motor conversion
Read the FAQs tho. They pretty extensively explain the b-series swaps.
GSR is prolly the best, b16 would be my next choice. They both are pretty played out and thus you dont need to experiment, just buy the right parts and vroom fast lil 100inch engine.
srsly tho, if you're serious about fast civic do a J series swap. Your mechanic is gonna charge you like 10x your car is worth but dem motors are badass.

Re: '97 Honda Civic D16 motor conversion
All B16's are VTEC, high revving, low displacement, low torque motors. Basically cute little puppies that do a lot of yapping, but have a hard time keeping up with a full grown dog.
The B18A1/B18B1 are non-VTEC, not as high revving, moderate displacement, with median torque. They're a middle-aged dog that might be a little overweight, but still has enough kick in the pants to move.
The B18C variants are VTEC, rev higher, and breathe a bit better. Torque numbers are comparable to the rest of the B18's, but they have a hair more power. They're the middle-aged dog that's been well-fed and exercised, and can move at a healthy clip when you want them to.
The B20's are non-VTEC, once again don't rev as high, but they have the 2 liters of displacement to make up for it. Torque for days. They're the older dog that's been pulling sleds, and while he can't go as fast, damned if he can't get moving in a hurry.

B18C1 and a B20 will be my first choices guys. This is a project am looking to start a round June. I wanna gather as much info as possible. I'm a fast driver. Would race anything that comes my way lol so I wanna make my baby a dynamite. Turbo will be my 3rd stage after engine transplant. Will post its pic after the conversions
