97 Honda civic axle replacement success.
I have a 97 civic dx. Yeah it's a pretty plain car, but it has been reliable as hell throughout the years i've owned it, and until now I've never had to do any repairs to it. However upon hearing this strange clicking sound when I turned I looked to honda-tech for answers.
After searching the archives for a few minutes I discovered it was of course a torn cv boot(s) and that I needed new front axles. So I dig deeper and end up with enough information to go ahead and purchase a left and front axle from a 96 civic online.
Needless to say I was intimidated at first about trying to do it myself, but I gave it my best shot and after a day or work my friend and I had the new axles in and she drives great. Both outer boots on my front axles were completely ripped apart and it was getting bad.
Anyway thanks to all the guys who post on here because w/o it I wouldn't have known where to start. I paid 100 shipped for 2 axles, 25 bux for the spindle nut socket and pitman arm puller. I saved a ton by doing it myself, so i'm really pleased w/ that. It helped my friend's dad has air tools, but needless to say I was surprised at how easy the whole process was.
If there is anyone else out there who has a similar civic, and wants to know how to replace front axles don't be afraid to do it yourself, and feel free to hit me up for any questions, it's the least I can do!
Thanks,
Chris
