Default 97 hatch converted to obd1 d15b bottom end z6 head Wont start

Well i just finished putting this motor in.Its a d15b bottom end with a z6 head . Im using a 97 dx harness so i believe all the plugs wont plug into the sockets on the z6 head. I have a couple of questions

The car will crank but will not start I lined up the timing belt spun it around a couple times and it was lined up then put the crank pulley back on. When crank the car i can hear the starter going and occasionly ill hear a putt putt coming out of the exhaust i put a new cap and rotor on it and a bought a used distributor. The car is running off a stock p28 ecu.

I dont know what intake manifold this is but it looks like a y8 but isnt cause some of the plugs dont fit . There is some sort of vacuum housing with a plug and 2 vacumm hose lines I believe one goes to the pcv valve and the other goes where?

just a thought... what cam gear are you using? i'm pretty sure you need to use either an adjustable gear or a y7/y8 gear to adjust for the d15 block being shorter than the z6... that might be why it's not starting.

also, are you throwing any codes?

its converted to obd1 so i dont know. Im using the stock z6 cam gear. The kid had a vx head on this d15b before this so i dont know if you need that y7 cam gear or y8. When im cranking it theres some nice flames coming out the exhaust. I brought the 1 clyinder up to tdc and lined up the cam gear. Theres a block guard in this motor would that affect anything?

What sensors are not connected? What CEL codes?

Spark at all 4 plugs? Fuel pump primes?

fuel pump primes im getting spark out at all four clyinders .I believe the idle air control vavle isnt hooked up its a black box with 2 fittings one on each side i used off my dx motor .Where does this peice connect to both sides? Could that affect anything. I just bolted up my headlight harness i could that didnt affect anything. There was a couple of grounds on that.

I just got done converting my 96 hatch to obd1. You will need to convert your IACV to obd1 style. Everything else is plug and play. I am also using a obd2 to obd1 distributor harness. Hope that helps you out.
Here's a link that shows you how to convert your IACV to obd1:
