Default 97 EX, My first Honda, not my first rodeo.

So I bought the coupe for $600 with the intention of buying and selling.... Things didn't go as planned because it's been a few years since I've had anything quick. My last car was a 2010 WRX that ran a 12 flat quarter mile.

Well, I had quite a bit of turbo bits laying around so the car got backed into the shop to change out a shot steering rack and things went haywire.

It's definitely a 15ft car. Has whiskey dents all over it and the car came from New York, it's got rust here and there.... It had no interior besides dash, front seats, and door panels, so I went to the junk yard and got some carpet, back seats, and a few pieces of trim for $75.

I put manual rack in the car as well as a solid rear shifter mount and poly front as well as rebuilding the shifter.

On to the fun stuff, the turbo is an HY35 off of my Cummins, tial BOV, turbo smart 38 EWG, vibrant 550 intercooler, SPA top mount. Just trying to get this setup running, then I'll be putting a p28 in along with some vitaras. I'm also looking at an LSD for the trans.

Also, I know the welds look a little rough. I ran out of 1/16 wire and tiger pawed down a piece of 1/8 Tig wire and welded it up with my sa200. That machine isn't exactly meant for fabbing small pipe. Down pipe will be getting wrapped and turbo has a blanket in the mail.

So I got the Keller exhaust mocked up. Going to have a go at it with some 3/32 6013 rods and see if I can weld it up.

Also picking up my turbo blanket and header wrap this evening. P28 with basemap, AEM boost and AFR gauge, and cluster bezel are in the mail as well as a Hallman Pro MBC. More pics to come tonight, hopefully.

Got my downpipe wrapped and turbo blanket on as well as most of my kteller exhaust welded up tonight. Going to add vband flanges to the part right before the lower control arm and go from there. Also got my oil drain JB welded onto my pan. Not real proud of that, but I don't have a way of welding aluminum sadly.

Not much to add to this. Got the oil pan and everything back on and was able to fire it up last night. Still waiting on my ECU and gauges in The mail. Hopefully I'll get to start tacking up and fabbing my wastegate dump tube.

So, not much to update.... Ordered a clutch for a B16 lol. So I have the correct one on the way now.

Decided to cut my fuel rail down so I could flip my injectors and tuck my harness.

Also trying to sell my old mk1 SSRs to fund some lensos.

And dad and I built an entry way for some extra pocket change. Being a fabricator and welder for a career has definitely come in handy.

Awesome. I guess I'm not cool enough for anyone to comment lol. So my clutch is here.... I'll only be using this for a little while so if it doesn't last it won't hurt my feelings, but there were as many good reviews as bad.

Also, scored a good deal on an OBX differential. Been sitting on a shelf for a while but brand new. Going to pull it apart and do the magic stuff to it and make sure it's right and run it.

Bought some slicks and wheels from a member on here. Drabbag I believe. Had 4 passes on them. Pretty much brand new!

Bought a z6 block from some guy in town. Came with an auto trans as well lol for $140.

Started doing a diff swap as well. Been waiting for over a week for the vss ring to get here...

Well.... This showed up. BB 6262 from boostlab! Pretty awesome and nice guys. Took time to talk to me and help me out.

Also, not as exciting, but still pretty exciting is my manifold and throttle body showed up. 70mm TB. I'll port the intake to match this weekend.

I also had a friend of mine do I slight port on the z6 head I picked up. Mainly removed casting flash, opened the roof up a bit, and did a bit of rework on the valve guide thing. Found a decent bit of info on d series heads and pretty much just enhanced what Honda did. I didn't go hogging it out or anything. Gonna spend a bit more time polishing the exhaust side once it's back from the machine shop. Just having it checked for cracks and decked if it needs it.

Stick welding exhaust piping eh?

What kind of fab work do you do for a living? I do GTAW/GMAW sheet metal fabrication, myself.

Lol, I knew someone would eventually say something. I used the last of my argon building the down pipe. So I stole some rods from work and gave it a go on my old Lincoln. I do pipe welding in plants. Mainly Tig but this company I'm working for now, everything 6" and up is 5p and low hy. Unless it's in a **** spot in the rack like what I'm dealing with now, then they'll let you Tig it.

Makes sense, did the weld on the exhaust at least turn out ok?

hated stick welding in school, hate it now. Might get you out of a jam, but I'd much rather never do it

The welds turned out fine. I mean, they look like good ole 5p.... But it's an exhaust. No pin holes or dog knots or anything.

Finally got the car over to the local time today. He does street tuning, I'm excited to drive it even though it's in the baby stock block setup.

Well, tuner called with badish news. Injectors maxed before the waste gate. As in they leaned out at 6 pounds at 6k rpm. Waste gate is set up for 7 pounds. So I ordered some DW 1300s to throw in it....

So.... Tore down the block I bought..... Think I found out why the guy said it quit running. Bought a z6 block for the crank and it's busted lmao. Guess I'll have the block checked and if it's good try to find another crank.

Also, bought this bad boy and it's definitely handy.

So I popped the factory head gasket and am putting a new one in as well as studs. Guess I'm going to go ahead and turn it up to ten pounds.
