97 ek/B18c - Why does speedo read 40 mph with motor running and front end on jacks?
Hello ht members,
First of all,
had mine obdI b18c1 engine running after diagnostic thru the trouble codes..
disc, exedy pp, 8lbs fly wheel installed (pilot bearing was installed, not sure if its require?)
clutch slave installed
all sensors are connected (except primary o2 sensor, and ckf) CEL went on for primary o2 sensor or IAT
using OBDII p72 ecu
when I started up the motor and IT'S in neutral position, also
using clutch neutral safety switch to start it up and...
fan was on..already use proper MTF, proper coolant, proper motor oil
while on that..its begin went up closely 40 mph constantly w/o axles/tires moving...
,.,.fyi both front wheels are up on stands,.,.-(driver side axle-not install yet)
then i engaged press clutch down complete then its dropped down to 0 mph and idling
(shifter is still in N position)
I want to ask why it went up to 40 mph constantly while the motor running with both front tires off the ground?? and wonder why the shifter is little offward to right from the middle of shift boot?? hmm

Re: B18c1 in 97 ek, exedy pp + flywheel + pilot?
interesting, I will update it when I am gonna install the driver side axle and brake, rotors, etc.
Therefore,
can use 94-01 gsr axles on 97 ek?
can use 99-00 em1 si shift linkage?
.,installed rear t-bracket (from 99-00 si)

You can use gsr axles and em1 linkage, em1 linkage is actually a better fit than the tegs,

Re: B18c1 in 97 ek
both axles are on, (rotors, brake caliper is not on yet due need a new lower ball joint)
I just had my obdI gsr motor started up really high idling at 4.5k to 5k while mph reading up to 40mph..then i just got a quick test to unplugged the iacv behind on stock intake manifold (IM)
and then it was idling correctly read at 1.2k at cold start and proper normal temp.
CEL went on for IACV and Secondary O2
any suggestion?
