97 dx tranny breaking? Checker at fault?
Alright, i threw in my zc sohc motor about 2400 miles ago, and upon doing so, of course i went to Checker to get all the fluids i needed for everything. Now it took me about 3 days, and me and my friend only slept one night.. so we were just a little bit out of it.
anyway, when I went to checker i bought up the oil/coolant/ and then asked which transmission fluid i need. I told him my car is a 97 civic dx manual transmission and he gave my 5 quarts of automatic tranny fluid. I asked him, "i didnt think i was supposed to use this fluid in my stick shift?" and he said its the right stuff to use.. anyway, now its a little bit later and my clutch feels to be going out, but i replaced it(the clutch) about 4 months ago and have taken it easy on the car.
Also, the transmission now grinds 2nd, 3rd gear, and pops out of almost every gear.. not to mention making terrible sounds.
what to do? Should i talk to checker and explain the situation and see what they could do for me or is that retarded? I should have known at the time that it wasnt the right fluid.. but thats in the past..
if i just buy the right fluid will it fix some problems? or is the tranny now screwed? Do you think checker would buy me a new one?
thanks for the advice

ok, so now comes the question Should i hold checker reliable for this? or take it as live-and-learn. I really do not have any money for a tranny ATM. even that GM synchromesh will put a hurt on my budgets at the moment

down time + lawyer fees + court costs + time away from work / school = learning exp
i dont think atf has the same protection against shear like mtf.
either use the syncromesh or honda mtf and see how it goes from there.

sadly you cant put the checker on the block for this one cause your the one who did the fluid change yourself . tho it is his fault for telling you to put that stuff in there

Autozone's old system said to use 75w90

Just picked up 2 qts of mobil 1 75w90 and am now debating whether to put it in the current messed up tranny, or just wait for a good deal on a ex tranny and use it then..

5w30 motor oil will work for the time being ?
was gonna put the gear oil, but got a pm saying 10w30 oil would be better. All i have is 5w30, will that work?
