Default 97 dx with jdm b16a

I could get my hands on a 97 dx coupe with a jdm b16a motor with around 70,000 miles on the motor....for $1800 dollars.....but a got a few questions....it needs an alternator...it starts but without revving it it dies...he said it would be a pain in the *** to find one for it and i was wandering how hard would it be to find one?.any websites specialize in jdm oem parts?....plus if driven normal...what kind of mpgs would it get? No ac or power steering with full interior... I need good gas mileage..plus is that a good deal?...new paint job....lowered...full exhaust...aem intake....5 speed....but it needs a windshield...alternator...and a good driver ....thanks alot in advance

Ridiculous deal--to the point where it's fishy.

Even if it had issues, it would still fetch at least 4 grand.

Mileage won't be spectacular--probably low 30's on the freeway. Also, keep in mind that it'll have to run on premium gas, so take that extra cost into account.

Is the car a salvage title? Is the engine stolen? Something's not right w/ that price.

.... if u need authentic jdm parts, i went accross this site called j-garage.com where they import cars/ parts, and other stuff directly from japan. i never really used it cause i hillbilly-riged my wheel hub to fit (96 itr brake conversion on a 93 hatch- pain in the ***).
if i understood them correctly, prices arent bad at all, 2 wheel hubs for like 240 bucks w/ shipping... i think

Holy random spammer batman.

Why would he need a JDM alternator?

Kids these days.

Alternators are NOT hard to find, a junkyard alternator from a 99-00 si or 94-97 del sol will work fine. Autozone also sells refurbished alternators.

the alternator isn't the reason you have to keep revving it to run if it starts the way it is. did you have to jump start it? and by the way get a 96-01 integra alternator it is the same and is the most common and ya 1800 is a great price i would buy it in a heart beat

no...they had the battery unhooked....so i hooked it up and it started right up...then died...so I started it and kept reving it and it stayed alive until I quit reving....and no man suprisingly I ran a carfax on it....clean as a whistle.....perfectly clean record.... and the civic I just bought had been wrecked back in 2002...I just bought a stock civic hx for $2000, and about three weeks later I found this for $1800...pissed me off....but anyway whats probably the deal with it dieing without being revved?

All that for 1800?
Sounds fishy to me. Make sure that the motor and tranny are not hot and do a leak down and compression test.

He meant WTF are you posting about wheel hubs in a ******* thread about getting an alternator. Instead of trying to push some BS about some JDM importer you use (or prolly work for), you could have said that a USDM alternator would work.

If i was your parents i would have aborted

Seriously, there's your solution. I would be wary of the car though.

I paid $5,000 for my 1998 Civic DX coupe with 87,000 miles. It is great 33-37mpg in the city.
