Default 97 del sol non-vtec

Hi,

Im thinking of picking up a 97 del sol non vtec for the summer. I can get one for 5,800. It has 112,000 miles and most if its important paper work, especially for recent work. Any ways, my question is I love VTEC and I am curious how much I would have to put into this motor to give it that kind of high revving feel, to put me in the 14's. 14's are fine with me, thats a quick car i dont need much more. What are some options? I am sorry if this is a new person question, it hard to search for. Thank you to those with helpfull advice.

If you want to hit 14's, I would recommend getting an ITR motor swap (B18C5) into the del Sol, or a GS-R swap (B18C1) if you want to hit 14's in the del Sol.

You may also do a B16, but to hit 14's, you'll need some mods before entering in that zone.

Or you can go hardcore and throw an h22 up in there, but you will have to do a search on those

From there, look more into those motors, and you'll decide from there.

c1 should work fine...seems to be the most common swap these days. Or if you want to have some fun ls swap with a lil turbo set up...daily drivable low psi would get u there

If you are serious about doing this minus the swap then go here.....

Agreed. I paid 5200 for mine in 97 and it had 49,000 at the time. If it were me, I'd keep looking unless you plan on doing a swap. Even then you could pick up an older one for way less.

Hmm, I like the car, seems clean. What do you guys think would be a good price for me to talk him down to?

It depends on the condition and all, but I wouldn't pay anymore then 5K for it especially if it's a S model. Try searching at.... http://www.kbb.com

I have a Del Sol and I wouldn't touch the SOHC non-VTEC FOR THAT PRICE. I love a Sol but that's too much to pay the non-VTEC model. Try and go for at least the SOHC VTEC or even the DOHC VTEC for that price. It's not worth that much, it really isn't. Either beat them down on the price or hit the road and get the Si version.

You can find a 1997 Del Sol in perfect running condition, with 113k on it for 2,500 bucks? I doubt it for the sheer fact that a '97 Honda is not that old and they hold there values much better than that. Sol's were not cheap when they came out.

EDIT: Hey JDM, how do u like your Si? What mods you got and what times if you dont mind me asking.

just don't pay attention to his "JUN" cam or his supposed 15.2 second quarter mile run.

not arguing with you, just filling in the truth. You sort of left that part out when you added the false info.
