Default 97 del sol a/c testing ?

Hi, new to forum with an a/c question. If I am following the Honda service manual for a 97 del sol a/c performance test.(In shade, doors open, max a/c, max blower, dash vent only, 1500 rpm, take high pres, low pres and vent temp readings after 10 min.), at 88* F. with 60% humidity, according to the test chart, if I am looking at this right, I should have approx. 43 psi low, 370 psi high, with a vent temp of 66*, with a 10% plus or minus. Is this correct or am I making a mistake on the test chart ? Thanks Jim.

Are you sure it's not 270 psi high? 370 is risking bouncing off of the high pressure cutoff, and possibly blowing hoses or triggering the blowout plug/valve. I would not expect anywhere near those pressures unless it was like 120f outside.

A vent temperature of 66f and 370 psi at 88f just screams a super huge A/C problem to me. Not enough condenser cooling, severely overcharged, or possibly too much oil in the system. You could also have air in the system. A good A/C unit should have at least a 30 degree temperature difference, with the best topping out around 50f difference.

Can you post that performance test? I can't seem to find it on Google at all.

When I use 94eg's version I get a high side of somewhere between 305-340, low between 34-43, vent between 57 and 65. Much better but I still don't like the pessimistic specs Honda gives these cars.

I appreciate the post back. I'm not surprised that I was that far off on the high from what you figured. I was using the Honda manual chart and just eyeing the ruler to make sure I was parallel with the vert and horiz of the chart. 1 or 2 degrees off with the ruler would account for that. For the most part I was basically asking if the chart was being filled out correctly and you answered that. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has used that chart.
Would you mind explaining the pessimistic specs part, my limited knowledge and using your figures the low side seems in the ballpark, vent temp seems reasonable and I have no idea about the high. Unless Honda left a sentence out of the service manual, the car is sitting in shade in the garage bay, exhaust pointed outside, car doors wide open, hood up, 1500 rpm, the only airflow across the condenser is the electric fan, and the maxed out blower on recirc is putting 88* and 60% humidity across the evaporator. Did I mention limited knowledge?
