How long is the exhaust manifold on a 97 Civic covered? Ours cracked recently. When I searched this topic, someone said it was covered for 150,000 miles. The literature that came with the car states 80K/8yrs.

I'm guessing that Honda extended the warranties on the manifolds due to the flawed design. Does anyone have any proof of the 150K manifold warranties? The car currently has 107K miles and I would like proof incase the dealership tries to deny it.

I called about this very thing about 2 weeks ago. The dealer told me that the manifold was covered for 80,000 miles.

I say 150000 miles. I had mine replaced at about 85000, but it was a certified used so I believe it was still under warranty at the time. If they don't honor it, go to another dealership to get a second opinion

I called them today, the warranty has been extended to 150,000 miles. At least for the '97s. Your dealer may be a dick, but I told the guy what year it was and he immediately said "The warranty is extended to 150K."

He's right. I had mine replaced for free after a crack mysteriously appeared in it. I have a 96 dx hatch. They replaced the manifold and cat and all at 107K miles, and said the warrenty is up to 150K. This was done by my college in Auburn, Alabama if it matters.

I have a 97 hx and I got a letter from honda stating emmission warranty had been extended to 10 years or 150,000 miles. I'm at 144,000 now and so far they've replaced the o2 sensor, then cleaned the egr ports and last time they replaced the whole computer. And they told me that cost $700 but it was under warranty. The muffler had gotten a hole and you could hear it suck air they didn't cover that though so I had them install a new muffler when they did the o2 sensor. Now being so close to 150,000 miles I'm kinda scared about my manifold, I've read quite a few posts where people have had problems with theirs cracking. I need to take my shield off and look at it real good.

yeah but on certain models they've entered some air agreement pact with california to produce lev's and they've extended the emmission warranty to 10 year / 150,000 miles. So not all models is only covered to 8 years / 80,000 miles.

Just to reiterate, '97 Honda's exhaust mainfolds should be covered on an extended warranty until 150K miles, like Kista20 said. I called them yesterday, that's also what the guy at the dealership said....

It's getting fixed, for free, by the dealership. The car has 107K miles on it.

Bingo.

I see these cars at my shop every day, and I've called on every one of those years.

It's the CX/DX/LX versions with the cats in the exhaust manifolds that are covered.

aight hey guys i got a question since these are covered and i didnt know about it .........

i got a exhaust mani from someone from HT and it had to be welded at the center cause of the of the bolts was stripped off of it ........ i welded it there and then found a crack near the top 02 sensor......... so its welded there....... can i go back to honda and get a new one since this one had a crack on it ....... car only has 112,xxx miles on it

btw its a 97 honda civic hatch DX

At my shop when we do warranty work parts asks back for the cores on anything because honda wants the parts back. Sometimes they dont have to return anything to honda but the technician has to return the core to the parts department . So all in all, i cant tell yes that they would accecpt it like that and i cant tell you that they wont because they might. Its a 50/50 chance.

1.5 hours.

The worst thing is when someone with one of those piece of **** cat/manifold deals needs a primary 02 sensor and the ******* thing breaks off inside the manifold. You cannot do **** to get it out because the manifold breaks if you even breathe on it.
