97' Civiv EX Airbag Deployment
How common is it for an airbag to not deploy during impact, but instead deploy about 10 minutes later? Some guy backed up into me and got on top of my front end and since my car is lowered basically slammed it to the ground. I got out to check it out and the only apparent damage was to the hood so we exchanged info and I drove away. About ten minutes later though as I was driving the passenger side airbag deployed.
Also upon the deployment of the airbags, the car shut down and will not start...so Im also wondering are Honda cars programmed to shut down upon deployment of airbags. Maybe prevent the flow of fuel like what happens with Fords? If so would a visit to an electric be neccesary or is it a relatively easy fix?
I'd appreciate any help.

Yeah i've also never heard of this happening, I would deff call Honda and ask them cause that doesn't make much sense. Have you tried resetting your ECU?

Also i know that when i G/F Wrecked her 95 Del Sol V The airbags popped but it was still running cause she drove it home. Just call honda. Or try resetting your ECU.

Never heard of deploying minutes after impact? Not starting after air bag deploys? Or both?
Honestly I dont know, Im guessing when my car slammed to the ground it moved around the airbag sensor or something...afterwards when I was driving it I came up to a pretty uneven surface were my car scraped the surface and thats when the passenger side airbag deployed. Im pretty sure the impact had something to do with it though cause my car being as low as it is, I have scraped my good amount of surfaces and the airbag had never deployed.
How would I reset my ECU?

crawl under the dash and replace the srs/fuel pump fuse. when the bags blow they pop the fuse that is shared with the fuel pump for safety. ive never heard of the bags blowing mins. after the wreck.

Also yea everybody Ive talked to is telling me the same thing, theyve never heard of it either...but but could the airbag deploy just from scraping the bottom of my car? I doubt that too, that's why Im guessing the impact had something to do with it.

if the car does not start aftere resetting ecu, i would look for damage that may have occured during the crash(plug wires, dizzy, fuel lines, wiring period, grounds. i dont think it has anything to do with your weird airbag deployment. i have never heard of honda putting srs systems or abs systems on a fuse with something else. they are always dedicated for safety.
