97 civic revving to 4500 and stop
Ok so i have a 97 civic ex coupe 5-speed. I just got the car and dont know much about it. It does have headers and a cold air intake. When i get to 4500-5000 it acts like im hitting the rev limit. I thought those cars came with a d16y8 bit the numbers on block say d16a. The ecu is a p2p-a33. The car was running rich and showing codes for multiple missfires and i founf someon had put a resistor in the iat. I put an iat on it today and drove it 100 miles after resetting codes and so far no codes but the car wont get anywhere near rev limit. When i get to 5000 it starts loosing power and won't speed up til i hit next gear. The car will bark tires bit is still sluggish. I used to have a 94ex 4door and it was way faster then this car and it was bone stock. I am wondering if it needs a different ecu. I replaced the fuel regulator and the coil and plugs. Still no luck. Really hoping someone can help. I cant afford to keep changing this and that. I cleaned where the map sensor is and checked the screen on vtec and it all looks good but its not working. I put full synthetic 5w30 in it. I just know i am tired of a focus at work stomping me and everything else for that matter. I have been trying to replace my civic for years.
