97 civic ex - Someone please tell me what sensor this is
I have a 97 Honda civic ex and it has lost much of its pep. I believe the problem is a sensor or a couple of sensors. I've checked the MAP and it's ok. The wires were broke on my IAT sensor but I rigged them back in the plug and it's OK as well according to my multi-meter. The green plug in the picture I'm going to post has a broken wire on it too. I really just want to know what sensor that is if it even is one. And any feedback as to why I have lost power and why the engine sometime revs up and down and when I left off the gas at 55 - 60 mph it dies down would be very much appreciated. Thanks

thank you so much. I have asked everyone what that is. I guess it not being connected to any wires would do something. It was throwing a code but I can't remember what it was. I think It may have been the intake air temp or some sensor with the word temp in it. My IAT is in that pic. I had to break the plug apart to splice the wires back into it. It reads the right ohms on a multimeter though

Is there any codes now? If so pull the codes and let us know what they are.
This write up will tell you how to pull the codes.

That pressure switch can be bypassed with wiring outside or even inside the ECU. If you don't have a VTEC pressure switch code, then this probably the case. Most JDM vtec solenoids don't have this switch so you can bet there a lot of ECU's out there with it bypassed.

My check engine light doesn't come on at all. Not even when first I turn the ignition on. Is there a fuse for the CEL? @94eg! If the vtechp ressure switch is bypassed does that mean the vtech isn't working?

If you bypass the vtech pressure switch will the vtech still engage? And I know this is a dumb question but how do you tell when the vtech kicks in? Is it when you hit about 4 grand on rpm itnfeels kinda like a power band on a motorcycle?
