hello just picked up a second car its a 97 civic ex , the car had a cel for the cat , I cleared the code and it hasn't came back .. the car idles at 800rpm befor driving. when driving and coming to a stop while not in gear the car has shut off , and after driving the idles drops down low (200-300) i havent turned up the idle screw at all was wondering if it sounds like that cat is bad the car haves 199030 miles it was one owner and he probly never replaced the cat , could that be the cause of my problem or am i over lookin somthing

Take a look for any vaccum leaks, check PCV valve, probably wouldn't hurt to look at/clean IACV either.

yea i guess imma have to pull it apart this weekend i was hoping for it to be fine because i didnt wanna have to work on the dd while im tryna build the teg

nope dose nothing of that sort,just had a cel for the cat converter.Cleared the code and it hasnt come back. Only drove it 7 miles after i cleared it though.. the car stalls out when coming to stop and haves a real low idle and has stalled once on idle .. this weekend imma drop the cat and see if its clogged or dose it open header that would help confirm if it is that or not,will also clean out the iacv and see if that helps

yeah clean it out adn then see what happens then you can adjust your idle and timing too
