97 civic ex - feels like something hits my car when i accelerate from a stop
Hi i have been having a problem with my civic since i bought it I feel like a a hit or thump on my car it happens when im coming up to a red light and start to brake then the light changes green and i push the accelerator and it feels like a big hit only once then its runs fine. How much i push the accelerator doesn't matter cause it stills hits then it accelerates good i really don't understand why it does it. The car kinda shifts a little hard compared to other cars i have had and im not sure if its the transmission cause i changed it out for a used one and it did the exact same thing.
thanks and i appreciate the help

#5 in that diagram is the most failure prone. To check it, you need to remove it completely (looking at the top of it is not sufficient).

Ok this is #5 /(Driver side) you where talking about and it has a crack all around it and is oozing.
Here is another one of #5 /(Driver side) you can see the crack a little better
Here is the motor mount #2 which is on the passenger side doesnt look to bad its kinda hard to see though and the back one #3 looks like this also from what i could see. There are small crack but mainly peeling
Guess i should replace #5 and see if it stops if it doesnt i will continue to replace the others. Couldn't find the location of the transmission mounts but will definitely check on them later

I know my ignition timing is off could that be a reason it is doing this beside the oozing motor mount just seems like its to easy of a fix lol

by what you can judge in the pictures do you think i will be safe just removing the oozing motor mount.

You cannot drive without it. It would not be safe. When you do remove it to replace it you should support the engine from underneath.
Your timing has absolutely NOTHING to do with a blown motor mount.

Sorry i meant only replacing the driver side motor mount (#5 in pic) and not the other ones. Do the other ones look like they need to be replaced and i meant can my timing off making the car feel like its being hit while accelerating because when i take off from a dead stop the engine doesn't thump its only when ive been slowing down (braking a bit) and then i accelerate

when you slow down motor twists one way ...then the other when you accelerate again
this will cause the mount if broken to knock

Should i replace all of them or just the one with the big crack and is oozing the left and back mounts look like the last picture

I don't think the torque mounts are an issue. When I bought this bucket, it didn't even have them installed and I drove about 400 miles round trip without a single noise.

If they aren't there, they won't make any noise, but if they're blown, they'll make a loud clunking noise on acceleration and braking.

Re: 97 civic ex - feels like something hits my car when i accelerate from a stop
they just absorb total movment when the motor has moved to it maxium twist
just like a bump stop and have nothing to do with supporting the engine

Re: 97 civic ex - feels like something hits my car when i accelerate from a stop
all the other mounts are pretty much the same shape as the picture of the last one it was just hard to take pictures of them i just dont want to change motor mount #5 and because the other ones arent as new or more worn it messes the new mount up
