I have a 97 Civic EX and the dash lights are not working....me and my friend pulled the guage cluster out and replaced all of the bulbs, i replaced all of the fuses as well....We have not checked the relays yet...but any other suggestions??

Test the dimmer switch with a multimeter.

i tried that also...dimmer switch is good.....i have no clue where the dimmer switch relay is

Do your parking lights and headlights come on when you switch them on?

Does anything else light up, ie climate control or radio lights?

the climate control lights and guage cluster is the only things out....the seatbelt light, bright light,emergency brake light etc....do come on as well....just no light behind the tach, speedometer, gas guage, and heat guage or climate control

Okay, I want you to try this simple test before you do anything else. Pull your dimmer switch out of the dash and unplug it. On the harness that you just unplugged, there are three wires, a red/black wire, a black wire, and a red wire. I want you to find a paper clip or speaker wire or something and jump the terminals on the red wire to the black wire. So you want to basically hook the red to the black through the paperclip or wire. Now, turn your lights on and observe if your guages light up or not and post back here.

I have the same problem with my car but i have a 96 ek hatch DX.
When I turn on my headlights my tach, speedometer, and gas gage, don't light up at all. but my heat gage, climate control, and radio light up, when i have the headlight off. when i turn on the lights i have no lights at all in the dash or heat gage or climate control, and radio. NO LIGHTS AT ALL !!!! my speedometer turns off and on when i'm driving???? Also my miles don't turn????
So I'd pull the gage cluster out and replaced all of the bulbs, i replaced all of the fuses as well. Still nothing..... But my friend said that it maybe cause i have a EX harness. we found a plug that was not connected to anything but it may be for the sunroof that I don't have???
Then we tried a CTR Cluster and it still didn't work i don't know what it is!!!
we put it all back together and called it a day
let me know if you found out any thing new
because i don't want to take it to the dealer ship........

Sounds like you have some wiring issues behind the cluster. Check all the harnesses behind the cluster to make sure nothing is exposed.
