97 Civic EX D15B, Parts assistance needed!
I recently purchased a 1997 Honda Civic EX coupe with a JDM D15B swap.
The individual who installed the motor used what seem to be all of the Y8 emissions equipment and ECU.
I just bought the proper P2J-003 ECU off some guy in some far off land... Lol, who's to know if I'll ever see that on my doorstep.
Anyway, I would like to know whether or not I will need a few different parts that are not currently fitted to my motor.
Parts:
1. 3-Stage VTEC solenoid
2. EGR-Fitted M/T intake manifold (out of us HX, or JDM VTI I believe.)
3. OBD-IIa to OBD-IIb crossover harness
Not sure if any of these will cause issues with the optimum "performance" of my ridiculously powerful ECONOMY motor, specifically will it bother the P2J ECU and make that ugly orange light come up on my instrument panel?
Thank you in advance!
-Ben

First off how do you know which JDM D15B you have? There is 3 of them that I am aware of.
Posting your head casting code and year stamp may help with ID'ing the motor.

Unless the "casting code" your looking for is a bit longer, in that case, it is 507310714. And I believe the year stamp is on the right side front of the head, right? If so, it is a 95. Or a 96, kind of hard to tell in the dark.

Wait a sec... I just read from another thread that P2J-1 is a D16Y8 head... Is this a sloppy Mini Me swap I've gotten myself into or what?

Sorry for flooding my own thread...
But I think I figured this out for myself.
I went and looked again, it is not stamped P2J-1.
It is P2J, with a 9/5 on the right side front face of the head.
Looked it up, and pretty conclusively this seems to be a straight up ~96 JDM 3-Stage Vtec D15B. So yeah, any help with parts would be awesome!

I think the VX timing belt is the one you will need. Not sure on the water pump, might need the VX on that too.
Most the info for JDM d15B is for the single stage vtec motor not the dual vtec motor. I suspect the vtec and dual vtec share similiar external parts.

You'll definitely need the solenoid, as far as getting it your only real option is ebay, maybe the market place, or find an overseas parts site. You'll want the head to solenoid gasket as well.
Intake manifold, I honestly don't know if it will throw a check engine light for EGR if its missing but if so the HX manifold should be fine.

Yeah, I got an OE VX belt and pump on it's way from a JDM distributor, only $106.99 too. Not bad.

Anything else you think might be required for this motor to be proper?

Oh, really..? Dang, well I guess I'll have to do some more research before I put that on. The VX belt seemed to be the one everyone was using on D15B, at least from what I've read...

Nevermind, it is not the VX belt, it is this kit here that I ordered. Does this look proper?
