97 CIVIC EX AUTO TO MANUAL SWAP
hey im kinda new to this but im trying to do a auto to manual swap for my 1997 honda civic ex and i was wondering if anybody could help me out by telling me what transmission will fit my car or do i have to use a D16y8 manual transmission for the swap ?????

alright well im planing on going to a junk yard and takin off a manual transmission from a 96-00 civic ... could you give me a list off everything i need so i dont miss anything for the complete swap ...???? im planning on putting it in myself ....

manual starter and manual ecu (for ex, no matter what tranny you decide on)
you need a lot more, do a search or check the sticky at the top of this forum.
and btw, the y8 is not necessarily the best, the dx transmission has longer gears and although its very lazy around the street, i get 35mpg easy while most other ex owners i now manage only 32mpg

WHAT?????I get 40 mpg at 80 mph on the freeway!!!
Or that is what I was getting on my way up North.

i get 35mpg city driving.
i used to get 35mpg on the 5 back and forth from socal to norcal when my car was automatic

performance wise yep. although when i rebuild my tranny i'm gonna add y8 first and second gears and keep the higher gears of my dx. that in my mind would be the best overall . .
but i digress . . .
