97 Civic DX hatch - Which Swap To Choose?
I know, these types of questions have been asked plenty of times. But I'll just ask
Usually I know what I want and will stick to it. But I've come down to this, somewhat building up a D16y8 for boost or swap in a LS motor and call it a day.
What I'm wanting out of this is, a daily driven car that can pull quickly when I want it to. The y7 is struggling on that, and I'm hating it. So I just basically want a little "zing" into the car. Nothing crazy.
Why I wanted the D16y8 for boost is because, the saying - boost is better. I've always wanted to feel some boost. Who wouldn't? Not to mention, I kind of want to stay single cam. Why? I don't know. But after reading on turboD, D-Series and all, it seems like the single cam can hold up to a nice 200whp. Which sounds great.
Why I want the LS swap, cause some of the people I've asked that have had this in their hatch says it's more then enough. It's quick and has torque. No need to boost it at all if I'm just wanting the zing. But I know these motors are great for boost. So why not boost this motor too?
Any other thoughts you guys may have, please give me your input. My budget is open, I have no limits. And no, no K20. I would, but I don't have the time to let my car sit in the garage and wait for it to be done.
So something simple, a quick swap that'll run. Get me back to my job. Thanks guys!
