Default 97 Civic DX Coupe HP upgrade??

Hi all, is it worth putting a header and exaust on my 97 DX coupe?? I just got it (I got it for a steal or I would have got a EX) and it's bone stock, what type of power gains can I expect?? my last civic was a 93 si so I'm kinda trying to compare it to that.

thanks in advance!!

yes with a 4-2-1 header upgrade you will gain more flow and more top end HP and low end torque, probably bump it up 15hp

if you want to get really serious, go on ebay or to a local junkyard and get the intakemanifold off of a d16y8 thats the 96-00 EX sohc vtec. and unbolt the manifold, keep the throttlebody and fuelrail/injectors on it, and the sensors.

go to advance and purchase a 88-91 civic si fel pro intake manifold gasket there 12.00
remove the d16y7 toilet bowl style IM and the injectors etc. once you have it off remove all gasket material from head surface. then clean up the y8 manifold.

***NOTE*** USE THE D16Y7 "STOCK THROTTLE BODY THAT CAME WITH YOUR CAR" USE THE Y7 TB ON THE Y8 MANIFOLD, IT HAS A 3 WIRE IACV ON IT AND ALL YOU GOTTA DO IS EXTEND 3 WIRES AND BOLT ON. use a razor blade to carfully remove the throttle body gasket "try to save it to reuse agin" you may half to use the y8 throttle cable hook up thing on the y7 mani so it swings the right direction and works correctly.

the reason you use the y7 TB with the 3 wire iacv is because all you gotta do is bolt up and turn on and go. if you use the y8 2 wire iacv you gotta re-pin your ecu,run more wires to it, its a paint in the *** unless you do a mini-me conversion. even then i dont mess with re pinning and 2 wire iacv i got a built y8 in my EK right now and im running the DX non-vtec ecu and the DX 3 wire iacv/throttle body on it. runs fine.
i control v-tec from a Apex-i V-afc .you hook up as normal to the ecu,but you dont run knock,or vtec in. you just run the pink wire wich is v-tec out to activate your selnoid. oil pressure sensor you ask? expletive it. the normal setting for vtec engagement are around 4900-5600 and you guys are wondering about oil press being correct. you can hook up the solenoid to be open from the point the car turns on, it will be on but wont work until around 4500rpm due to oil press has to build up.

so ide go with the ebay "i went megan racing 4-2-1 header before i went turbo"
and the d16y8 intake manifold conversion/upgrade. that will create more flow and more HP. i did it when i first purchased my hatch. thats the first thing i did was the header and IM upgrade.
