97 civic dies after a 3hr drive as im getting off freeway
i was driving about 250 miles one way and everything was fine it ran fine then i turned off the car and it wouldnt start my battery was fine my alternator was fine i went and got them tested. i jumped the car and it started right up.
then on the way home it just died getting off the freeway on the exit. i got towed to a parking lot and called my dad thinking i needed a jump and it just started. he litterally just touched the starter and it started he has no clue what he did. it only does this on long drives. its a manual tranny.
i just really dont know whats going on

Clean and tighten the G3 transmission ground at both connections on the transmission and chassis. Do the same for battery connectors and the G1 battery ground attached to the chassis.

I once saw in a TV-Show that a Mercedes had a similar problem and that they had a hard time finding out what it was.
After hours they found out, that it was that sensor, that tells the ECU, that the engine is actually running. It seemed like it was damaged and couldnt handle the engine-heat anymore.
I dont know if Hondas have that sensor, but if they do, i would check it!

I've noticed that the idle gets real low about 0-500 rpms after i slow down from being in 5th gear which could just be quicidental. i was driving on the freeway and the idle basically wasnt there so i had to keep the rpms up so it wouldnt die on me
so im thinking tps, or idle air control.
