97 civic 2000 si swap crankshaft position sensor "a" code?
i have a 97 civic with a 2000 si swap. the swap was done 2 years ago by the previous owner. i have had the car for a month now with no problems. now a few days ago my check engine light came on when i started the car. i thought nothing major so i start to go down the road. the car wouldnt go past 3800 rpm's. i turned around and went home, sat in my driveway and revved the car up. still it wouldnt go past 3800 rpm's, it just bounces off 3800rpm. so i get my engine scan tool out and it tells me that"crankshft position sensor "a" circut malfunction". also it says"ckp range/perf. so i go out and buy a new crank sensor that goes behind the crank pulley. installed it and nope it still was the same. now that was $125 a waste. so the i was told there was another sensor in the distributor that controls the crank. so off i go to the honda dealership and buy a new distributor. still the same s**t. that was $245 a waste too. so now im up to $370 wasted and still cant figure out the problem. i really love this car and want to keep it but whatever this problem is its killing me. does anyone know what this could be? now keep in mind the car ran perfect before this happened and the swap was done 2 years ago.
please someone out there help me!!!
