All my lights work except for my rear running lights. Changed my bulbs. (correct double bulbs for tails) checked all the fusses under dash. Is there a relay or w.e that controls the rear running lights? Cuz they work once I apply the breaks..

OP, were the lights working prior to your replacing the bulbs (before they blew out)? do you have a voltmeter?

97 el is same as a civic 4dr so im in the right place.. sure my grammar is not great.
The light bulbs werent the issue since they looked fine when i changed them. i do have a voltmeter. seems like a common problem thats why im asking on a website not going to a mechanic to get it fixed. i read many threads with this common issue but people clunk up the thread and it never gets answered. anyone who had this issue before and fixed it please let me know

All the lights work as they should exept for my rear running lights when i turn my side markers or headlights on. when i break they come on and the bulbs are not the problem what should i be looking for?

Take your voltmeter and test two things. First off, with the lights on, probe the power wire in the light plug and see what voltage you get. Second off, test for continuity from the ground wire to the chassis. Post those numbers.

Sounds like there's a broken wire in the trunk.

Im going check the voltage im getting at the plug. And I hope its not a broken wire in the trunk because everything is still original wiring wraped in the black plastic tube thingy, except for the speakers. Does the wires from the trunk run along the bottom driver's side doors?
