Default 96 vs 95 starter

I just purchased a 1996 civic ls with a 1.6 non VTEC motor that supposily has a bad starter. Going to try and check tomorrow. The starter has been removed already. I currently have my 93 civic DX with the 16x6 VTEC engine tore apart. Question is will the VTEC starter work on the 96? The 93 engine is from a 95 si with an auto trans. The new 96 is manual with a 16y7 engine. Thanks for the help as always!

I know for a fact there is a difference between auto and manual due to bell housing differences.

Not sure about the 5th to 6th gen on the d-series motors.

Side by side comparisons should give you your answer....

I got the one off my 95 engine but it would not align to the bolt holes for the 96. Thanks for the help, time to hunt new brushes and such for the old one or a used one. Thanks again

That is no surprise, you said your 95 was an auto and your 96 is a manual.

Two different starters like I mentioned already. Auto and manual are not swap capable.
