the 96+ hatchback weighs as much as a DX coupe, what is the reason for this???

the one thing i can think of is in 99+ the p/s, a/c and 14" wheels w/caps came standard. since 96-97 all that was options, the base weight is lower. my 98 weighs as much as a 99 cause it came with p/s, a/c and the wheels. i removed the p/s though, it wasn't needed at all...

true , mine didnt have p/s, but did have optional a/c . which doesnt anymore

Did you swap ps/ racks??? This will help ALOT more, if you can find one from a non-powersteering 96+ The difference is from the ratio's having to be different to keep things balenced.
