Default 96 hatch A/C fuse keeps blowing need help

Like the topic says.......it appears as though the problem is with two wires that go to my clutch. When I put a larger fuse in the a/c works but only at higher speeds. Why is this? I would like to fix the problem myself but have no idea what to do. Any expertise in this area would be greatly appreciated.

Check your wiring, any signs of chaffing or rubbing could be causing your circuit to ground, which in turn is blowing your fuse. Also put a multi-meter on it and check for resistence as that will also cause fuses to blow. If all is good your contacts in the A/C compressor might be sticking or contact something that they should'nt.

Thanks for the tips......the fuse blows instantly when I have a regular fuse in there so I dont think that it is grounding out somewhere. But it could be something to do with the contacts to the clutch of the compressor....I'll check it out.

I think that I will have to take out the compressor, is there any way that I can get around a recharge after I do?

u answered your problem the fuse blows as soon as u put it in. u are grounding out somewhere. grounding out refers to taking a power wire that has volts going thru it and making it touch the body or a metal surface
