Default 96 gsr swap help!

I recently swapped a 96 gsr motor into a 95 ex coupe. Since the motor is run off obd2 and the car is obd1 I just put a chipped 95 gsr ecu computer in there and it runs great. The only problem is im trying to get is passed by a state ref and I cant get the check engine light to go away. My friend pulled the trouble code and said its pulling a code for the knock sensor? Im a total noob here but I thought the knock sensor was only programmed into obd2 (96 and up ecu's?) Can anyone tell me the easiest way to fix this problem, am I going to need a whole new ecu?

No sir. There is a knock sensor for the OBD1 motors also. I have it myself. I reccomend you getting a OBD2 computer and wire up that knock sensor.

Hmmmm...How hard is it going to be wiring up the obd2 computer to the obd1 wiring harness? I know the 96 comp from the integra would not plug in to the civic and and no one I knew at the time knew how to manually wire it up. But overall this should be the easiest way otherwise there is no way to get that check engine light to go away right?

its pretty easy. you just need a pin out to pin into the ecu. knock is d3 and just wire it straight to the knock sensor. its above the oil filter. you also have to wire in the IAB. same thing just pin into d7 to the signal and to the battery pos

Now what if I went underneath my car and just simply connected the knock sensor and the check engine light goes away, then there should be no problem that my ecu is a 95 running a 96 right?
