96 GSR motor, 97 civic EX...not getting any spark. HELP!

96 GSR motor, 97 civic EX...not getting any spark. HELP!
My buddies and I just dropped in a 96 GSR motor in my 97 civic EX, and it's not getting any spark. It is running an OBD2a P72 ECU, an OBD2b GSR distributor (could this be the problem???), stock IM, o2 sensor, etc...We pulled a plug/wire, and rested it on a ground as we cranked it, and there was no spark at all.
What's a good checklist of things to check on? The plugs are good, motor ran fine when pulled out of my buddy's hatch, we used my EX harness so everything should have transferred over. What gives????
I really would like to have the car running tonight, everything else is in!!! Any tips on where to start?
