96 ex auto to manual, NEED intake manifold and tb?
Ok ive been planning this conversion for over a year now. Ive gathered most all of the parts. Then I read on another forum that for a 96-00 because it is obd2 I need the intake manifold and throttle body and harness? WTF!!! Can anyone confirm that I need these things? I just dont understand why. I thought I had everything........
-i DO have the manual ecu already, i figured the only reason i needed the harness was to hook up the speed sensor maybe. If I needed the freaking intake I would have just bought a whole engine to begin with. Is there any physical difference between the two that i could tell? It looks like about $100 differnce between an auto and manual IM at http://www.hondaautomotiveparts.com. Please help!

yes you do...i cant remember which sensor it is exactly but i have an auto EX motor in my car (swapped it when i blew up the DX and didnt have the money for a manual conversion)...the EX motor came from a manual car and the manifold wouldnt work because of a sensor difference on the TB...the manifold might work but you will need a manual TB. hope that helps.

omfg, you're right. Damn it, more $$$$. I got someone to confirm this, the EACV sensor is on the manifold on a manual trans, and on the bottom of the tb on an auto trans. AAAAAAAARRRRGGGGGGHHHH
Ok burnt, you wouldnt happen to still have that mani and tb lieing around would ya? Anyone know if there are any more "mystery" parts that Im going to find out are different at the last minute again? Do i need anything else besides the TB and intake manifold? Like a fuel rail and sensors or anything? Thanks guys!
