Default 96 engine(obd2) into a 95 body(obd1)

I wasn't really sure what to search under, so if there is a lot of stuff on this topic,
could someone point me in the right direction?

If not, I have a friend getting a 96 engine for his civic,
And I wasn't exactly sure how much more he would have to do,
to put the obd2 engine into his car, being it's obd1.

It's one of the 1.6 d-series non-vtec, not sure of the exact engine number.

Just anything on swapping it in and what he would Actually need,
I figured it might need a conversion harness for the ecu,
but other then that, I wasn't to sure. Thanks.

ok i did a write up on this which i cant find so ill retype it...

Ill use my swap as the example.

Car: 92' hatch with d15
Donar car: wrecked 96' integra Ls

Ok couple things you need to know. You def wanna keep the car OBD1 for modding purposes the obd2 system is way to sensitive and annoying. Next there might be ppl on here that will say to get this injecter and that dizzy its all bullshit.

I also dont have any pics for ya so barely with me ill use as much description as i can....

Ok the things i needed, again use the same exact principals just with your buddys motor instead of the Ls...

1. need to get the obd1 ecu of the motor (I got 94 Ls ecu) make sure u get the manual trans if u have manual and auto if u have auto.

2. U keep the obd2 engine harness on the engine.

3. Drop motor in

4. Then at the strut towers u see 3 big electrical connecters at each side. The obd2 will have an extra plug most likely on the left strut tower the one by the batt. U need NO i repeat NO conversion harness. Just plug the electrical connecters together. u can cut the extra off or leave it hanging.

5. There u have it your boys car will still be obd1 with a obd2 motor. My question is why does he want that motor save some more $ and at least get a sohc vtec or a B series swap.

The swap hes gonna need the
1. motor
2. trans
3. axels
4. obd1 ecu
5. shift linkage
6. make sure about the mounts

i dunno what swap this is so he may be able to reuse the trans, axels and shift linkage.

I may have missed some stuff about the swap so if someone sees anythin missin chime in.

The biggest part of him not getting a vtec-sohc or b-series,
haha well is that he's not that much into cars, and he just needs something that runs.

He needs to replace the headgasket and the labor and all would be 500,
and he found a 96 D-series with only 20k on it for 600.

Thanks for the quick info too, I'm not much into the d-series,
So it was quite helpful.
