96 EK hesitates @ 50% throttle B16a2 swap
I have already replaced the spark plug wires and spark plugs with NGK, cleaned the air filter and changed the fuel filter and replaced the oxygen sensor with a Denso unit.
My car right now on the distributor timing is set all the way back to the firewall to eliminate some of the hesitation. Its worse when the car is cold you would hammer the gas and it would just accelerate slowly for a couple secs. then when it reaches a certain RPM it would accelerate fine.
I cleaned the throttle body with throttle body cleaner and it helped a little.
Grounds are all on, one to the tranny, one to the cylinder head, and to the thermostat, and the battery to the chasis.
What could be the problem?
btw, my friend said it could be a # of things, TPS sensor (but i don't have a CEL), and could be my injectors are clogged, or the PCV valve.

btw, i should mention, i opened the valve cover and turned the crank so that both the cam gears are facing the arrow TOP so the cam timing is dead on.
could it be that I need a valve adjustment as well??

make sure the two marks line up in the middle of the cam gears face to face. And while at it, make sure cyl one is at TDC. sounds like the timing. but also, move ur dist back towards the middle a little bit but not all the way. like half way towards the fire wall. Ur timing could be too advanced. I had mine set dead on in the middle but t hesitated like how urs is. well now mine doesnt. and make sure ti get it checked with a timing light to see if its in range. Check ur cap and rotor. Mine was corroded and after i got a new one, it improved the acceleration

ttt..
will check the cam timing again. can it be the ignitor or do i need a valve adjustment?
btw, the car is worse when i first start itup in the morning. like the gas pedal i can push it all the way and it won't respond well for a couple secs. then it picks up again.

your igniter could be going out on you, is there a place near you that rebuilds distributors?, my 92 hatch did that when I had my ls and after I took my dizzy to the rebuild place he told me it was the igniter, wanna save a lil cash Im pretty sure the new one we got was fron a single cam, I belive it's one of the few things interchangeable on it

if this helps, when my friend and i were timing it before with a timing light, it would line up on the crank but would disappear then come back (sorry, I can't really explain it)..

calibrated my TPS, closed throttle @ .5 v and at WOT 4.6V is this correct?
car runs ok now, still has a little hesitation and a higher idle from trying to find out the problem.
