96 EK hatch cutting out
hello i'm new to these forums and thought i would run my problem by you guys and see if anyone has had this problem before.
well i have a 96 hatch with a GSR swap. as far as motor work goes i have the basic bolt-ons plus a victor X intake manifold. running stock injectors, fuel rail and regulator. When i first did the swap the car ran perfect and then it started cutting out like there was water in the gas so after a few days of trying to find the problem i found the fuel regulator was no good and it solved the problem for a few months. Now the problem is back and i've changed and checked the fuel regulator with 2 different ones i know are good, new fuel pump, new fuel filter, new cap, rotor, plugs, wires, both O2 sensors, TPS sensor, 2 different Iacs, and have drained the gas tank a couple of times.
This problem is intermittent, the weather seems to have no effect on when it happens but the car will be running fine one minute then at a steady speed it will become non responsive to the gas peddle. Also when the car runs like the the idle become irratic aswell. When the car cuts out it drops down to an idle and at this point i can down shift and it will respond again as normal for another minute or 2 before it happens again.
As far as CeL's the last one it has thrown was "running to rich or lean". that code came up only once for me and since then is now off.
If anyone has any input i'm open to anything at this point

sry guess i should have also said the i've tried the distributor or my friends 2000 GSR teg and that also did not solve the problem and i'm pretty sure i would have noticed water in the distributor by now. i've been trying to find this problem for serveral weeks

Re: 96 EK hatch cutting out
mos def sounds like ignition, check the coil and ignitor. after all the thing you just listed that about narrows it down to these two things. same **** happen to mine a while back.

i'm running the stock OBDII p72 ECU. i've tried a different ECU aswell so i know it's not a bad ECU and as for it being the coil or ignitor that isn't possible either as it would have been fixed when i swapped distributors from my friends car

as stated in my above post i have recently (2 weeks ago) replaced the TPS sensor and yes i did put it in with a volt meter for adjusting it.
