96 EK h22 info?
Ok guys, i DID search, but havent found exactly what ive wanted. Mostly little bits of information here and there. I know i still have to research a lot more. I also checked out the "what swaps are available.." thread, and other threads related to h22 swaps.
Here it goes. Ive found a 96 cx, and my and my dad were thinking of having it as a project car. I was thinking more towards h22 swap. My questions are:
//Would you suggest an h22 rather to a B18c5?
(I know that they will be relatively around the same price including installation, and that the h22 is heavier)
//If i did go with the h22 swap, besides the mounts, what else would i need?
(I know i need axles, i think?)
//I couldnt pass emissions with an h22 because it will be older than '96 right?
//Stock h22ed 96 hatch vs stock b18c5ed 96 hatch, which one would be faster?
(I know this is bench racing or whatever, but im just curious)
//I couldnt have PS or AC with an h22 right?
I know i have more questions, they just arent coming to me right now. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

yes, you would need axles for the H, but most of the $ spent in the swap is for small things to make it fit, not larger cost parts. In my experience (all else equal), the H pulls the C5 slightly in a straight line. Make sure you run your car OBD2 (and get a 96+ motor) for emissions. You can have PS and AC in an H22 EK, but getting them to fit is not fun.
In my opinion, the H is better performace for $ spent, but will be a lot harder to install with AC and PS.

I checked on hmotorsonline, but they only had 92-95s. Any ideas where i could get a 96+?

i went the path of installing a h22 into my 96 ek as well. My advice would be to reasearch as much and everything you can and to have a very experienced mechanic install it. go w/ the c5. Alot less of a headache

Re: (nitroeg)
Yea, im pretty sure im going throguh with the swap, but im not doing it myself. If i find a shop that will, then it will be a go. My question is, where can i find an OBDII h22? I want OBDII so i can pass emissions, or, id rather have obdII.
Another question, removable steering wheels wont pass inspection right? WhHat do people do?
Thanks.
