96 EJ6 hatch rear trailing arm bushing
Hey guys,
Working on my friend's '96 DX hatch and I noticed both of the rear trailing arm bushings are broken. Is this common?
I was able to purchase new bushings from Honda, but the parts guy said that they used to make you buy the whole trailing arm. So when I looked in my Helm manual for direction, I found nothing about replacing this bushing.
I'm wondering if I can press these out and press in new ones without damaging the arm or alignment, and how much force it will take.
Thanks,

Im not sure how hard they are to get out, but im pretty sure you can press them out. I know mine and one of my friends are broken though so im guessing it is common.

Yes it is common, and yes you can press them out and press new ones in. You can either remove the arm from the car and use a press/hammer/etc., or you can buy the special tool that will press out the bushing while the arm is still on the car.
You used to have the buy the complete arm, but Honda has since made the bushings available separately (obviously, since you were able to buy them).
You should have the car aligned after installing them, however.

$63 retail/ bushing. Kragen doesn't carry it.

Thanks, that's exactly what I was looking for. I'll search for that tool.

Re: 96 EJ6 hatch rear trailing arm bushing (SGVridgerunner)
so they do offer trailing arm bushing? I went to Honda about 6 months ago, when I was doing my rear disc conversion, and the parts guy told me they didn't offer the bushings by themselves and would have to replace the complete trailing arm. The trailing arms on my drum brake setup were still good so I ended up swapping trailing arms, could of saved me some trouble with just bushings
