96 Del Sol driver door won't unlock or open
The driver door is stuck locked and I can't open it or unlock it from the inside or the outside. Already tried taking the door panel off but seeing as it's stuck closed, that's proving to be difficult. I've used the search button but haven't found a solution, any suggestions?
Edit:
So far I'm at a loss. I tried pulling the fuse to no avail. I also took the inner door handle apart and tugged at the lock rod....but it wouldn't budge. I can't get to the front door panel screw, and I can't get enough leverage on the bottom of the door panel to pop it loose. Grr.

It sounds like the actuator is seized.
Where are the buttons that control the power locks? (I have an S - manual locks)
Is the rod stuck rigidly in place, or does it move to the lock/unlock position with no effect?
Have you tried pulling on the rod and activating the power locks at the same time?
What happems when you put your key in the lock and try to turn? If the key won't turn, what happens when you try to turn the key and activate the power locks at the same time? Also pulling on the rod at the same time?
One of the cheaper fixes might be to call a tow truck that can use a slimjim to unlock - make sure that you explain the problem up front - you need someone with a bunch of experience. Perhaps direct pressure will overcome the actuator.
A backup for that: cut the door card so that you can get to the actusator and lock mechanism yourself.
Good Luck!

Re: 96 Del Sol driver door won't unlock or open
Having this same issue with my 95 DX 4dr, the driver latch seized up 2 days before I was going to sell the thing! Convinced this car is cursed.
Anyways I can lock and unlock the door, but both inner and outer handles act like its locked. Was gonna try using a coat hanger wire, but the slim jim maybe a better choice.
Someone else must have had this problem. I have another junk door with a working latch i can swap out, just need to get the door open.

I agree with Sonia's Driver. The actuator being seized is most likely the issue. The same thing happened to my 98 Civic EX. I could turn the lock both ways with the key but the door would not budge. I eventually got the door panel off while the door was still closed. It is possible, but damage might ensue. I then got an air hammer and chisel and blasted away at the actuator. Door eventually popped open, and I then replaced the actuator.

Got the problem resolved everyone.
Turns out it was a spring that popped off in conjunction with a plastic piece that jammed inside. Released the plastic piece and managed to get the door to open, then proceeded to pop the panel off and retrieved then replaced the spring.
Thanks to all!
