96 D16Y7 to D16Z6 head swap, IAT question
96 DX/D16Y7
Boomslang harness and P28, Z6 head/IM
reusing the stock Y7 airbox mounted on its side since I am in a huge crunch to get this done.
I'm leaving the Z6 IAT in the Z6 IM and will reuse the Y7 IAT in the Y7 airbox.
Will this work or do I NEED (not should, but absolutely need) to rewire the Z6 IAT?

Should work fine, IAT is just a resistor sensitive to temp changes... 2 wires either way.
Good luck, and I imagine it will be only a short matter of time before you put the Z6 intake mani on there also.

Re: 96 D16Y7 to D16Z6 head swap, IAT question (shifty35)
Z6 went on with the head.
I'm having a hell of a time figuring out some coolant lines.
Y7 only has one hookup on the hardline on the back of the block where the Z6 has 2. I have the hardline hookup running to the IACV, and the other IACV hookup running to the TB, but that leaves the vertical hookup on the Z6 IM open...

Y7 dizzy won't bolt up. So do I just rewire the Z6 dizzy clip to the Y7 harness (have a full Z6 engine harness to get clips from)?</TD></TR></TABLE>
You could rewire, or swap the guts, or get an adaptor harness - I think Password sells them.
As far as the coolant, I want to say that the vertical hookup on the Z6 goes through the hardline that also has the valve cover vent hardline on it. I don't remember where the other end goes.
I'd say that if you have coolant going to everything, it's safe to just plug it.
