96 CX auto to manual ?'s
I am putting a manual gsr swap into a auto 96 civic cx hatch. My question is, is it easier to just buy a 99 civic si engine wiring harness? Will it plug into the chassis harness? Thanks for looking!

Sorta, '92 - '95 civics and '94 - '01 integras require the use of an aftermarket auto to manual swap mount for the transmission unless your mechanic wants to cut off the automatic pocket mount welded to the frame and weld on the manual version.

It's kind of funny because I drive a 96 Civic cx with a manual swap done on it. This may just be my particular situation but holy hell does it ever feel like ****. I'm not 100% on what's involved in doing the swap but I'm sure some corners were cut and boy do they ever show. If you do end up trying this swap yourself, do it properly and don't cheap out on the details. This is the reason I'm selling mine (or at least trying to).

i had a close friend to do mines so corners weren't cut. my car feels faster cause now i can actually control the throttle instead of "letting off" to shift. the auto transmission is also FREAKING heavy.. took 3 guys to get it out of my trunk. i could pick up the manual transmission by myself. as long as you part the pieces together and make sure you have everything you want/need, it should be done correctly.

you can do this without spending alot of funds.. I just did it in my cx hatch and all i had to do was get the manual trans mounts everything else was cake.. u can use your auto engine harness but i wouldnt recommend it.. I used mine for the time being but in the very near future will be swapping the engine and cabin harness's to manual ones..
There is some cutting involved in converting it to a manual.. The shift cable mounting has to be cut out and then you need to make a plate to cover that aswell as a plate to make the shifter hole smaller. other than that theres some wiring your going to have to do inside and thats it.. I did mine in two days..
