96 Civic - wrist pin knocking
I have a 96 lx D16Y7. Has a wrist pin knocking. I have a D15 short block. I wanna swap my Y7 head to D15 block. I haven't found a complete write up on this. Just parts of others Frankenstein build. I have head gasket kit timing kit and water pump kit for a D15Y7 build. Can any one give me a complete write up on this from popping hood to turning key after build. Please and thank you

Re: 96 Civic - wrist pin knocking
If I may ask, how do you know it's wrist pin knock?
Also, it would be helpful if you can provide more information on the D15 block. There are a few different ones with different piston designs. That will play a role in your franken build.

Re: 96 Civic - wrist pin knocking
as long as the block has 4 valve reliefs per piston, and isnt a z1, itll work. the timing kit for a d15xxx is not the one to use. you'll need the d15 pump/tensioner, but the y belt. oil jet needs removed from the b7 block, etc etc. follow the y8 mini me write up, it is the same head casting, and thus the same process.

Re: 96 Civic - wrist pin knocking
Okay finally got started on this build. I have a D15B7 short block. Y7 head is from my bad D16Y7 that was in my 98 lax civic. I have Y7 tore down just needs cleaned up. I bought Y7 head gasket kit and water pump kit. Can any one provide a detailed walk Thur for this?

Re: 96 Civic - wrist pin knocking
you need the pump and belt tensioner for the block. belt should be y7/8 this guide will be basically the same for your setup, same head casting. Dan's MASSIVE D15B8/D16Y8 MiniMe Write Up! | HondaSwap
