96+ Civic window keeps coming out of its track???
My damn drivers side window keeps copming out of its front track in my 97 Civic. I have taken the door panel off like 5 times and fixed it but it keeps doing the same thing. They arent power windows. Someone told me it is common with civics, so if anyone has had this problem how did you fix it? Thanks

Man mine kinda did the same thing. Mine would like lean forward and then make a gap where it did not hit the seal near the mirror. I had to buy a new regulator. Its better but it is just slightly off, but not near as much as it was when it had the old regulator in it.

I fix it in like 20 mins every time but as soon as I put it down all the way it pops right out at the same place. I even drilled a hole to move the track in closer and it still does it even though it is in there tight as hell. If this happens in a lot of civics it should be a damn Honda factory recall and they shoud fix it for free.

there is a nut/bolt in the lower right corner of the door on the track, it is used to bring the track closer or farther, get a buddy to lift the glass up while u loosen it and bring the track inwards, done

I just had this problem and i had a post on it about a week ago... you need to take out the regulator and spray it down with silicone, not wd40... it is a known problem with civics 96-00.... if this doesn't work the regulator will need to be replaced.... the guy at the honda garage told me to try this, now they work like new

i hate that about hondas... we have 2 of them an accord and a civic... and both have that same problem... but a friend told me the reason why soo many have the problem is cuz people slam the doors when the windows are rolled down... lol it sux going thru drive thru and having to worry if ur windows will roll back up..

Re: (hybrid98)
I dont have a regulator because I have manual crank windows, but i'm sure the silicon lube will work. I have tried moving the bolt in the lower front corner all the way tight on the window, but it still pops out of the track. I'll try the silicon lube and let everyone know how it worked. Can anyone give me a good brand of silicon lube and where to get it, NAPA maybe?

It's a fact that ALL (manual & electric) honda window tracks must be periodically lubricated with dry silicone lubricating spray or the rubber dries out and the windows start to bind up, jump their tracks and or burn out the regulator/power motor.
It's considered to be a regular maintenance item like changing your oil but few people seem to know about it or do it. Spray those tracks down on a regular basis (maybe each oil change to help you remember) and you'll never have a problem. Any local autoparts store will carry the spray you need, just tell them what you want it for or go to your Honda dealer and get some.

I used gunk heavy duty silicone spray.... make sure you take the window out thought and spray the tracks really good a few times.... then clean the edges of the wondow and put the window back in..... taking the window out lets you get better penetration in the channel

Re: (civic_speed99)
I lubed it up with the silicon and put a few washers behind the front bottom track screw and I think it works good now. I might have to adjust a few things but its a LOT better than before. Thanks for all the help.

I did the washer thing before i took mine completely apart.... but after awhile, I ended up taking them out. It didn't really help in the long run.

well the only thing you can do is get a new regulator, its a kick in the ***** but it will be less painless if you do, been down that road

Re: 96+ Civic window keeps coming out of its track??? (jdog1277)
had the same with my 98 civic... it was a nightmare for 2yrs but i think i finally fixed the problem.
solution1: open the side door panel. on the bottom left, there's the bracket that lines the door. clean the bracket window guides with water and alcohol after the water dries up. alcohol cleans the risidue. then use powder graphite along the guides to make it slick. before tightening the bracket, roll up window fully.
its been 5 yrs with no problem

Re: 96+ Civic window keeps coming out of its track??? (jdog1277)
okay, i have a 2000 em1 and the **** happens to me ALL THE TIME. I carry a #2 phillips and a 10mm socket with rachet in the drivers door pocket. And i've gotten to where i can do it all in 6 minutes. So yes, i've got all of you beat. MUAHAHAHA. My window goes up and down fine, and i HAVE sprayed it with the silicone spray INSIDE the tracks with the door panel off. I dont see how a new regulator (which i believe is the motor) is going to keep the window from being knocked off track. Can someone please explain this to me?
