96 Civic sohc?
I have a Civic dx Hatch, and am not currently looking to swap, i was curious if i could put a ex head on my dx block and switch out the ecu, would this make my car vtec? Or would i need to do multiple other things? Or is this even possible? Thanks for an Feedback

If you can find the parts for a mini me cheap, its a wonderfull learning exp. Knowing nothing about honda engines i did a mini me with another guy i met on HT. Now i feel that i can do a entire swap myself . And you can surly feel the differance with power and yes VTEC!! i think i spent a total of $300 on the mini me. This does include the P28 ECU that can be used on other swaps so i count that as an investment

Alright That sounds sweet, what all do you need though to do the swap, and if it makes a significant difference i'm willing to throw down for vtec even if its only SOHC lol

Significant, kinda. i mean you can for sure feel the diff. You will have more power then a EX (d16y8) but alot less then a B16 =P. Just remember on SOHC, you still cant really hear/ feel vtec =P. When vtec kicks in you can see the RPMS climb faster tho =P

I have that setup. y7 block with a y8 head, manifolds, and ecu. I say scrap it and buy a complete y8 setup and build it for turbo or go b/k/h if you want n/a.
