Default 96 civic si - bumper conversion shortcut?

Is there an aftermarket bumper that fits a 1996 honda civic that is the 2000 civic style? If not, would it really be that hard to take the two bumpers to a body shop, tell them to chop it up and make it fit my 96 civic?

You're asking if someone besides Honda makes a bumper for one of the most popular cars sold worldwide? Have you ever been on the internet?

You should know that you'll need 99-00 headlights, fenders, and a hood.

Or are you asking if there is a "99-00 style" bumper that fits with 96-98 headlights and fenders?

If so....are you aware that people from the space station will be able to tell, with their naked eyes, that your car is not a 99-00 civic si?

If you're looking into a body shop to cut up a 99-00 bumper bottom half and graft it onto a 96-98 top half and make it geometrically and aesthetically fit....do you believe this sounds more or less difficult/expensive than buying the complete 99-00 front clip?

First and foremost, there is a thing called an si conversion so I'm obviously not the first person to do this.

Buying all the parts would be 600-700$ easy. I got hired at a body shop and I will be doing all the work I was just looking for tips.

Why the *insert expletive here* would you need to that? Then it wouldn't be a conversion would it? That kinda stuff went out in the 90s. Just buy the parts and stop trying to get around the cost/work. And there's all kinds of cheap no name off-brand "aftermarket" bumpers. Just check eBay. It'll be a crap shoot on fitment.

Always gotta be some noob that wants to reinvent the wheel but doesn't want to be the one to go first.

And HOW is that a shortcut?

He wants that 99 front bumper look but keep the headlights and fenders the same, weird I know but hey hey its his car.

OP have you tried mounting it on first before asking a body shop to make adjustments?

You need to have 99-00 hood, fenders, grille, and bumper in order for that to work..... You'd spend more having a body shop try to mold some bumpers together than you would sourcing used parts to do it correctly.

Okay, but how is that a shortcut? That's 10x more work and cost!

you're getting robbed if you pay over 300 for an 99-00 "Si" conversion...seeing as Integra jdm fronts go for 6-$800 and come with more items, still a pos civic at the end of the day.

shouldn't you be providing the tips or know them since you work at a body shop... to get hired at a body shop don't you need to know something about body, metal, paint?

Around here: $30 each for hood + fenders. $20 for each headlight. $35 for bumper cover. So, $165 total. Honestly it's worth the trip just to drive somewhere with cheaper prices.

If you're getting hired to do the job then just buy a 99-2000 civic front end and call it a day.

what condition doe ? in Toronto a 99-00 front set(SiR/no-SiR) goes for around 300 in good shape. reason being there's tons of auto's here that ppl buy up and part out, usually in good shape too.

If you're patient, 8/10 or 9/10 condition. Same price, regardless of condition, at the local self-serve.

Get your story straight. First you're taking it now you work there. And if you work there why are you asking us?

It's called retrofitting not conversion.

No, it isn't. A retrofit adds new technology to old technology to improve it in some tangible way. A conversion is taking a part of one thing and putting it on another thing, to make the other thing look like, or pretend to be, the first thing.

B18C1 motor into a '96 Civic? Technically a retrofit. Newer motor (technology), tangible improvement (more power).

Body panels from the front of one car onto the front of another? Same technology, no actual tangible improvement. Conversion.

I've never done something like this before, grafting two bumpers together. I've done simple body work for the past month, just curious if anyone has ever done it.

How many threads do you need asking the exact same thing? You WORK in a body shop (or so you claimed). Ask one of your co-workers this question. Reported.
