96 civic. When the car is at idle, the transmission makes noise. Not grinding but i'm not sure how to explain it. When I press the clutch in, the noise stops completely.
The car has 80k miles. Can this be the throwout bearing?

One or more of the 5 bearings inside the transmission is bad, throwout bearing will make noise when the clutch pedal is depressed.

not the throw out bearing. It is one of the two bearing on the main shaft. Input shaft bearing or the bearing on the other side of the shaft. For your trans it is most likely the input shaft bearing.
