I have a 96 Civic hatch with a swapped b16a2 with the tranny (from a 99 civic si obd2). Right now its set up as a conversion because its converted from obd2 to obd1 runnning a p28 ecu. A couple of friends of mine told me to run a p72 obd1 integra gsr ecu in it and it will run alot better.

Currently right now it just has some mods but not a lot. I plan on boosting it with a single turbo running 10 lbs on the stock engine without sleeving/rebuilding the engine to run more pounds.

Which ecu would be best for current time and when I boost it? Should I take the obd 2 to 1 conversion and use a obd2 p72?

It runs fine on the p28 ecu now but lots of people tell me p72 would make it run a hell of alot better.

10 lbs might be a tad too much for the b16 to handle on stock everything. most people run less than 8 if they arent doing a build. buuut if you can afford it the best option would probably be to go with a hondata ecu since you want to boost, and more than likely if you boost it you'll want more power later on and the hondata can handle almost any set up you throw at it

yeah i thought about the s300. the engine isnt stock by any means. It has all aftermarket cams, head gasket, camshafts, valves, distrbutor, ignition module, intake, header, and exhaust. Only thing thats stock is the clutch and flywheel which plan on changing because its starting to slip due to the more power i've added from mods. Besides the s300 which would be better?

ahh i see, in that case yeah 10 sounds alright. but low comp pistons will be in your future if you want to go much higher. the s300 is usually the best option for people that dont want to chance just chipping their ecu. but there's also the AEM engine management system, but that thing is veery expensive. i think the whole system comes in at 1200-1500 depending on what you get. I don't know much about it, but there is also the option of using crome, which has free software, but in most cases it's harder to use and get a good tune with, although some people will swear by crome and claim its perfect. imo the best option is the s300 just because its not too expensive and the software is pretty easy to use, and if you take it to a tuner they will probably be happy that you didnt pick crome.

On those s300 it fits inside of the current ecu. If i used a p72 from a gsr would it trick the engine into thinking the b16a2 was a 1.8 L engine and run with more power than the p28 that is a 1.6 liters. Do you think or have experience with running a p72 with a s300 on a b16a2?

i've only used the p28 with an s300, but i dont see why it would make a difference because either way you have the s300 basically overriding everything in the performance category in the ecu, when it comes down to it your original ecu is just a shell once you put the s300 in
