96 Civic EX/00 D16Y8 swap - reverse lights, O2 sensor, and EVAP canister problems
Ok I've read a couple of threads and searched.
I found some good info, but something is always different then my situation.
Im swapped a 2000 D16Y8 OBD2B into a 1996 Civic EX.
I purchased the complete motor swap w/transmission including wire harness and ECU.
Both are manual transmission.
Swap is in and runs but a few issues.
Here are my questions, concerns, and/or problems so far.
1 = Reverse lights don't work, not sure what it could be.
The guy I got the swap from showed me everything was working.
Is there a difference in wiring/sensors from 96 and 00 transmission?
2 = Primary Oxygen sensor connector is different (im using the 96 ex sensors)
Do I need to get 99-00 EX O2 sensors? Im only using the exhaust manifold from the 2000 and the rest from the 96, I have the 2000 cat and muffler I can swap in, but if I don't have to I wont.
3 = EVAP canister connector is not on the harness (or I cant find it).
On the 96 Wire harness its probably the first connector from the firewall.
On the 00 Wire harness I seen its connected to the fuse box?, maybe (Not sure if I'm correct). Is there an extra harness/wire I need to buy for the EVAP canister? If there is a harness/wire I need to get can I use the 96 EVAP canister or do I have to use the 00 EVAP canister?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I will update this thread if any new issues occur.

Re: I Need Info Please: 2000 D16Y8 into 1996 Civic EX questions.
use everything out of the 96. the o2 sensor connectors are the same though, you might be looking at the wrong plug.
reverse lights don't work because the pinout is different on 99-00 cars. i am going to guess your tach doesn't work either. you need to use your 96 harness.

I cant seem to find the connector for the O2 sensor, unless it was accidentally plugged in another spot (had a friend doing the harness).
Also there is 1 connector not plugged in, not sure where it goes.
Here is a picture of the connector, maybe someone might know.
This is the only connector not connected, it doesn't go to the EVAP canister or 02 sensor.
I did find out the O2 sensor connector was ripped or pulled off, but no wires showing at all.
Could it be possible for the previous owner to put the connector on? (picture above)
I know you can take out the pins.

On the connector above this was attached to it.
Could this be the connector for the O2 sensor he didnt give me?
Also can I use this connector and swap it on the oxygen sensor itself?

I ended up switching to the 96 harness, everything works, I just need to extend the o2 sensor since Im using the 99-00 EX exhaust and the primary o2 is behind the motor.
