Default 96 Civic DX - Speedometer help

Need some help with a speedometer.
I can be a. And my speedometer says I'm doing a hundred and twenty miles an hour and then it bounces down to 40 and spins around like a how to control clock.
I have a 96 Civic DX I replaced the module on the transmission didn't do any good.
Anybody got any ideas what's going on?

^Dash fuse 15 (7.5A)? Does the cluster battery light turn on and stay on when key is turned to ON(II) [engine off]

Is CEL code 17 or any other CEL codes thrown?

The fuse is good #15 under dash. I've never even had a code out of this one time which is kind of surprising no engine light flashing nothing and I don't know how many times I've plugged in a OBD2/EOBD code reader and it's never come up with anything ever been like this a very long time

Does your code reader also read live data? If so, does it report proper mph while the speedometer is acting up?

It does report live but I've never really thought to do that. Give me a few minutes to move some vehicles around plug-in the reader and and run down the road and see what happens give me a little time

Scout junk yards for a replacement speedometer or an Civic EX cluster with a tachometer.

If you can find an EX cluster matching your transmission, it's plug and play for your Civic, which currently does not have a tachometer. Or you can swap in a LX, DX, CX speedometer that matches your transmission.

Well I may be in luck my brother-in-law had an accident in his 96 Civic it was a stick mine is automatic he bought another one for parts stripped it down gave a wiring harness with a another speed sensor in instrument cluster like one that you're describing just doesn't have a tachometer it's pretty much stock like I have on my car. Have not tested it to see if it's any good or put it in yet.
But a instrument cluster with a tachometer would be pretty darn cool.
And I still have to make a jumper switch for my air conditioner and I did find another board on eBay for 17 or $16

Again thank you for your help I owe you that's two times you save my butt. I'm pretty sure you know it's starting already get hot outside. But I'm going to look into the one with a tachometer to that is pretty cool if it's not too pricey that is.
Again thank you

I've been on vacation in San Francisco and Los Angeles.

I return to Houston late tonight.

Didn't get a chance even read that last post you're on vacation you're more like on Worcation. Gheez so glad you are manning the computers.
Well I pull the speedometer out the other one and I saw all that yellow plastic must have been white at one time but because of the Heat and age it's turned yellow. It's also the kind of plastic when it gets real old shattered like glass
Is there anything I can maybe put on there or paint on their to give it more little longevity. I was thinking maybe an epoxy paint but Epoxy paint has got acetone in it and acetone attacks plastic.
Any ideas I value your opinion
