Icon3 96 CIVIC DX - radiator shoots out water

Well my radiator shoots out water so i changed the cap and it helped but it still builds up a lot of pressure and over heats, i have to keep adding water to keep it normal. A friend said it might be something with the cylinder header but i have no idea AND AT STOP LIGHTS SOMETIMES IT JUST DIES, ITS A AUTOMATIC. FIRST I STOP AND THEN IT SHAKES AND TURNS OFF AND TAKES A MIN TO TURN ON AGAIN.anY ADVICE?would be a lot of help thanks guys

I agree it sounds like a blown HG, did you check the oil and see if it looks milky?

This is not the only indicator of a blown headgasket.

I did not say that it was the only indicator. One step at a time. Is there a reason you go to my post and talk about what I say over helping the person that needs help?

Because you offer that up as if that's the only thing to check. If it isn't the only indicator then why do you not list the other things that should be done/checked? How about to a compression test to make sure? That's why the OP must know that no milky oil doesn't mean it's not a headgasket issue. It could be a cracked block. it could be a warped head considering the OP continues to drive and overheat the engine. I would submit that it's PAST being a head gasket issue so my comment is relevant.

ok I see what you mean. I stated the milky oil as something for him to check, I should have listed many other things and didn't. I am sorry for not giving a better list of things to check. I am here to help and learn, not to cause problems or to start fights.

A compression test could also come up normal and you may still have a leaky headgasket. I agree that if OP has been continuing to drive an overheating car with possibly contaminated fluids there may be many more issues than just the headgasket now.
