96 Civic Bosal Muffler front pipe to manifold gasket
Here are the muffler parts that I installed over the week-end: Muffler – Bosal – 292-157, 163-727, Front pipe, 713-385, Spring Kits, 254-999, Lead Gaskets, 256-293 I never found the correct front pipe gasket. If anyone has the correct number, I'd be glad to have it. The gasket that they gave me at NAPA was 256-193. This gasket was too big. Auto Zone didn't have the right number either and gave me a make-do gasket that was not a good fit, a little small, but when I installed it, there are no leaks. The spring kits that Bosal sells include bolts that are too short. I had to assemble the joints with regular bolts with washers, tighten up, then remove a bolt and push the springs on by hand. It was difficult.
I had to replace the mainifold and the old one was rusted on. I used kroil to loosen the bolts. I got every nut off without any damage to the manifold studs. I got a replacement manifold at a junk yard for $50. I had to torch the bottom manifold bolts to red hot, cool, apply Kroil, then remove. I was able to get the 3 nuts off without damage to the studs. The bolts were really rusted solid. They would definitely have broken off if I had not used the torch to break up the rust.
