Default 96-98 headlight city light mod issue

So I've decided to take on the task of installing city lights in a set of spareheadlights I had layong around. The headlights are oem honda off a 97 civic. Got sylvania 168 amber bulbs, and bulb sockets from a 97 civic, they were originally license plate light sockets. Got the socket to fit in the citylight hole on the back of the headlight and I drilled a hole on the headlight lense. But when I put the socket through the blub doesn't reach through to the lense? I'm stumped. I will upload pictures in a bit.

I'm assuming the bulb is supposed to poke through a little so that it will shine on the entire housing. Think I could get some LED bulbs that are a bit longer that would fit through?

Just came across this DIY thread. This guy used rear marker sockets from an integra, which look a lot longer than the license plate sockets I'm using. I'll try to find a set of these somewhere.

Well that spot in the back that I drilled out is the factory position for city lights in EK headlights. I've been told those sockets I have should work, they just aren't long enough for some reason.

I had the same problem. You need extended sockets part number 33304-s04-g02

The sockets that came with my JDM lights are much longer to accomodate the spacing between the reflector bowl and the housing...
