Default 96-2000 Hatch MPG question

hey guys!
im selling my s2k because i simply just cant afford to keep it anymore because of the massive amount of commute that i do. i was looking into getting a stock EK hatch after i sell my car and was wondering what kind of MPG you guys get with yours. the engine wont be modified at all, hopefully my bike can take care of speed needs for me
thanks in advance

s2k shouldn't be gettin to bad mileage..... but to answer your question:

put a gsr in a hatch... still gets 34 mpg combined.

the hatch with a stock motor.. not really that much better gas mileage, but GOD that thing couldn't get out of its own way

My EX gets about 28 mpg, how does a gsr get 34 mpg?

My old hatchback got me from 28-32mpg with some light foot driving. It was worth it though.

You couldn't go fast with a y7 anyways, so I just never bothered having a heavy foot with it lol. It was more fun keeping track of the mileage then hitting 80mph with the thing.

AP1(2.0L) OR AP2(2.2L)?

You must have a heavy foot if you think your s2k is a gas guzzler. A hatch with a stock motor is only gone get you just a few mpg's more.

Edit: i just saw your sig.. learn to drive.

It is probably the way I drive, plus I have the ac on. But it's not like I'm trying to race the thing, I just find it necessary to give it extra gas since it's going nowhere. lol

29-32
96 DX hatch as my daily

You suck at life if you're not getting good MPG out of your S2K.

Is the extra $40-$60 killing you that bad? Stop eating out, stop smoking, stop "hanging out", stop drinking alcohol...etc...

Gas prices aren't THAT bad.

I'm sure he can't afford his payments, probably has nothing to do with gas. I nominate the OP as douche-of-the-day.

exactly. the only people that should be complaining are people like contractors or people have to drive around for their work (not their commute to their job), nd businesses who use fuel like delivery services etc etc

hell, I drive a big *** diesel truck and despite spending nearly $5/gal, I honestly barely notice a difference. but then again I get over 20mpg.....

FYI, you can run atleast 50% used motor oil with diesel just filter it and you are good to go.

Gasoline engines are at the will of fuel prices. with a diesel, you can find alternative ways to fuel you car like running used motor oil, used ATF, WVO, or make your own biodiesel.

ive been working since i was 13 and bought my car cash. i dont have any payments, never did.
i get about 20-22 MPG and thats about right for a S2000 in city driving. i love this car to death and honestly other than a motorcycle, nothing else compares to the fun your can have in it. but the fact is that i commute to school and i really dont wanna put so many miles on it. i feel bad, call me cheap or whatever you want but thats just how i am. the other point is that i do alot of Mountain Biking and Snowboarding and camping. and the s2000 isnt very well suited for things like that. im very sad to let it go but im sure ill beback for another one soon.
BTW i filled up today and it was 50$, and its supposed to be 6$ by the end of the summer. i think i might just buy another integra since it has great cargo space....

By my calculations I get about 26 mpg in my hatch on average. I don't really drive aggressively other than a few crazy redline runs here and there.

I have a '00 EK CX Hatch.
100% stock
Get about 38mpg (70% city, 30% freeway)
No a/c or PS

Why are you guys bustin this guy's ***** so bad? He's not being hostile. He just wants to lose the sporty car for a gas saver and he's seeing if it's worth it to him. I don't see that as whiny/complaining. Must be me.

OP: I'm sure the S2K is a blast to drive around. The EK is gonna be boring. So if you love driving the car, I'd keep it. Like everyone else said, it doesn't get THAT bad of MPG, but if you wanna save the 15mpg and insurance savings from a hatch then go for it.

wil take me a lil bit to accelerate to speed and and i dont use cruise control in spite of having buttons on the wheel, i basically hold the pedal in place on inclines rather than give it more gas, *** dat lol

IIRC BMW did a study and they found that if you accellerate briskly to the speed limit, youll get better mpg opposed to taking it slow and keeping a load on your engine for a considerably longer time. makes sense.

ive found that to be somewhat true for me too, i say somewhat because my accord is automatic right now

its got a lot of torque at very low rpms so it does fine to get up to speed with little throttle input quickly

i found if you just take 1sst and 2nd ger up to 3-4K quickly but without stomping the gas or anything dumb, it also is decent

ehh then again ive never actually complained about my mpg in my accord... ever
